S. M. Mezarcioz, M. Bebekli, R.T. Ogulata, Prediction Of The Air Permeability Of Knitted Fabrics: Comparison Of The Image Analysis System And Theoretical Model
Abstract
Since knitted fabrics have a loop structure, they have more pores than woven fabrics, so, in general, air permeability of knitted fabrics is higher than the woven fabrics having same weights. The experiment of determination of air permeability that defines the properties of keeping warm, protection against the wind, breathability etc. of knitted fabrics used as clothing, is very important.
In this study, porosity was tried to determine by employing image analysis system, as well as the theoretically calculated porosity and air permeability values in our previous study. Results were compared with the experimental results. A theoretical model was created to predict the porosity and the air permeability of a knitted structure depending on the geometrical parameters, such as courses per cm, wales per cm, stitch length, fabric thickness, count of yarn, diameter of yarn and fiber density. For the purpose, a theoretical model of porous systems on D’Arcy’s law was used. Process the images was done using the MATLAB software on computer. Validity of the models were confirmed by experimental results using 100% cotton plain knitted fabrics were produced ring and compact yarns with different yarn numbers and different tightness.
S. M. Mezarciöz, M. Toksöz, Sustainability Concept And Its Applications In Textile Sector (Investigation In Terms Of Textile Fibers)
Abstract
Fast-moving consumer in the world with increased environmental pollution has caused global climate change. Resource consumptions and waste productions are increasing rapidly at the same time with the development of industrialization. In this case, many countries and states take importants of their concentration to “Sustainability Concept” because of taking the necessary measures regarding to do not face with major disasters. Textile manufacturer’s substances which are released are harmless for environment also, as all modern industries’es and if concentrations are above safe limits, overall affects highly seen. Therefore, reduction of environmental damages and reduction of resource consumption for adaptation of recovery, using of eco-friendly fibers or other materials, reducing the amount of pollution and the development of methods for removing process’es pollution after it has occurred has become important day by day.
